Adventure 3 (kinda): Nerdyness

Digimon, Pokemon, Avatar, Sherlock, Dr. Who, ancient cultures, mythology, books, cross country, Microsoft, E3, video games, cartoons, comic  books, superheroes, and batman. These are only a few of the words that will launch me into huge nerd rants where anyone without basic knowledge of the subject will certainly get lost. I can get very excited very quickly about these subjects and a lot of these things have been coming up today so you all get to hear (read) me rant for a bit. In other news, I'm going to use pictures in a blog for the first time ever. I think.

So lets start with Digimon and Pokemon. These two shows served as my childhood until I wasn't allowed to watch them anymore (long story). I was looking on Hulu this afternoon and decided to check if they had either of these shows on it. I was very excited to see that they had the entire third series (like a reboot) for free. I started the first episode and learned a sad fact... the episode was in its original form. Normally that would be a great thing but for digimon, that means it's completely in Japanese -_-. Luckily some of the Pokemon episodes are on Comcast Ondemand. But to continue my nerdiness, I'm going to assemble my all time favorite Pokemon and Digimon team. (in Pokemon, you have 3-6 Pokemon and only one Digimon/partner in Digimon).

This is Puppetmon! He is my Digimon partner. If you've watched the show, then my puppetmon would be nice, not a psychotic murderer.
The following 6 are my pokemon team: Alakasam, Arcanine, Gengar, Scyther, Gyarados, and Golem.

I honestly won't make you sit through the rest of my nerd rants so if you ever want to talk about them, just text me or extra. I'd truly LOVE to talk about them, even about these 7 guys and why I'd choose them.

  1. okay, you chose all the "butch" pokemon. Care to explain why? I see that you have two psychic, one rock, one grass, one fire, and one water type. No electric? Did you raise your garadose from a magicarp? *carp carp carp, lol.

I'll have to think about my team. ;)

  2. Butch Pokemon? I only have one Psychic, Gengar is a ghost silly and Scyther is bug and flying, not grass (but that's a trickier one to know). Of course I raised all of these from level 1-3 and caught them in their basic form in the wild. I Chose Alakasam because he is crazy strong and is able to hit a lot of physically strong Pokemon that my other ones couldn't. Same goes with Gengar but this way the two of them can back each other up for weaknesses (I'm talking to you dark Pokemon). Arcanine becasue I needed a fire Pokemon and he is a dog and I've always wanted a dog. Plus his speed is crazy fast compared to Charazard. Scyther is my favorite Pokemon that I have always wanted so I sacrificed the strength of my team for him by getting rid of grass type. However, Scyther is also pretty strong and he is able to fly me places. Finally, Gyrados because he is a power house and I've used him in every single team I've made unless I choose a water starter Pokemon. In most my games, I'd use a combination very similar to this but without Scyther (so hard to get!!)and the devolved forms of Gengar, Alakazam, and Golem because I never had anyone to trade them to make them level up. I also never owned games with Arcanine. If you make your team, keep it in the Kanto league, those were my limits.

    1. Kanto means original 150 Pokémon right?

Well, I can't remember what my team was when I played the game (granted I only ever got to pewter city before I got bored)(I either watched my sister play or she let me play hers for a bit)(I loved to watch the show more and drew lots of pictures)

So, if I was building a team now in the Kanto league I'd have:
      Butterfree
      Jigglypuff
      Vaporion
      Rapidash
      Persian
      Pikachu

      :D

    2. For some reason, I knew you'd pick Persian. You never played the games?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

    3. Well, I do like cats, although I picked Persian because it's more evolved than Meowth. But I loved Meowth from the show.

I get bored with those kind of games. The games I like best are: Party games (mario party, Brawl, Dance Games, racing games) and Adventure games (Zelda, Sonic, Harry Potter), and The Nancy Drew Computer games (puzzles and stuff).

I am also a sucker for graphics, so if a game looks really good, I'll be happy to play. So gameboy games, not as much. I liked the Disney Princess Gameboy game, which I found recently in my gameboy advance.

I'm not a big strategy person, I'm a running, punching, dancing, jumping, puzzle-solving, and sword-fighting gamer. I need action and tension. That's what makes video games exciting for me.
But, my sister was always a bigger gamer, so I love watching people play. For me, video games are a social thing. I don't enjoy playing them by myself very much, if someone is watching me or I'm watching someone else, I'm having fun. And I know a lot about the Pokémon games from my sissy.

    4. Plus I watched 9 of the movies and like 7 season of the Pokémon TV show. I think I have a fair amount of Pokémon knowledge.

    5. ah I understand. I still would compare Pokemon to Zelda in terms of action but I understand your point. If graphics are your thing though, look at the graphics for the newest one, Black and White. At least I consider them pretty good.

    6. I mean, in Zelda you are making the character fight, in Pokémon you are choosing attacks and telling it what to do. It's more about strategy and less about flinging your sword all over the place. lol I'm kind of a "ready fire aim" person. Which is why you can beat me at most strategy games. ;)

    7. That makes sense. Guess you'll just have to learn patience then you'll be able to beat me. I found my old Pokemon games today!!! Time to play some silver

    8. I am trying to learn that particular virtue. :)
Yay, have fun playing silver. We never had that one. I think we had red, blue, yellow(?), ruby, and emerald. (and a few gamecube games plus the rescue rangers game.)

      Go beat Gary!

  3. Now here's something tougher, Mr. Shane:
Who would you have if you could use Johto as well?

    ReplyDelete
  4. P.S. I'd go:
    Blastoise
    Gengar
    Pidgeot
Nidoking (I've used him every time i've played. =) )
    Vileplume
    And lastly.. Hitmonlee

The only time I've ever used a fire Pokemon was when I started with Charmander

    ReplyDelete
  5. I rarely use fire as well because they are so hard to find untill you are super strong and by then you don't want to change pokemon. In Johto I'd use red gyradoes, crowbat, Dophan, typhlosian, alakasam, and Ampharos

    1. Why Donphan? Just curious of your reasoning.

  6. What about Hoenn region pokémon teams boys? Which would you choose then?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I never played saphire, Ruby, or Emerald so I really can't help you there

    ReplyDelete
  8. That is a fail, Shane! And can I use pokemon from all regions or do they just have to be from Hoenn?
    If it's all, I'd go:
    Crobat
    Salamence
    Metagross
    Sceptile
Hitmonlee (or Kingler if I decide to use a water pokemon since I can't get Blastoise)
and.. Hmm... Probably Manetric. He's one of my favorites of all time.

  9. Actually I probably couldn't get Kingler either so in that case it's be Walrien. And just switch him out with Hitmonlee.

  10. It is NOT the best region, Johto definitely is. I picked Dophan because he's like Geodude but cooler =)if only you could get him earlier in the game

    1. I respectfully disagree, at least in my humble opinion. I liked the pokémon in Hoenn best. My sister's stellar Hoenn team, she competed in pokémon tourneys with, with her leader: Raquaza might have helped me form that opinion though. :)
